Top 5 Things to Kick Off Father’s Day Week

What are you doing on Father’s Day for your Superman?

June 16th is Father’s Day already – can you believe it? Somehow, every  year we manage to finagle vacation, arriving just in time to launch “Father’s Day Week.” YES, that’s what we celebrate around here- a whole week of Dad! It’s been a particularly grueling spring for my husband, so Chris deserves it this year.  In addition to flying out to Florida over the weekend, here are the top 5 things we’ll be doing to celebrate Father’s Day Week::

  1. Steak Dinner.  Yes, he always gets dinner! One year, it was just the 2 of us and whopper-sized steaks at our resort’s restaurant. Another year, it was steak sandwiches at the Hard Rock with the whole family. This year? I’m not sure. Where can we get an amazing steak dinner in Orlando, anyone?
  2. Ice Cream Shop Stop. My husband always says he doesn’t like ice cream, but he can never pass the Ghirardelli Ice Cream shop without stopping and ordering something MASSIVE, I mean, like a 2 foot tall chocolate shake.  So yes, this is always on our Father’s Day list!
  3. Roller Coasters. It’s not just theme park mania with my husband, there is always some new ride he wants to take Amelia on – especially now that she’s 54″ tall! Meaning, all the grown up roller coasters are new and available for her! Maybe next summer there’ll be a Superman ride?  That would be awesome for my girl!
  4. Chocolate Cake Shot. This is what he is calling a “new tradition”. He tried one last year on vacation, and FREAKED OUT about how they “work.” Yes, lemon and alcohol mix to simulate chocolate cake, it’s a miracle of chemistry! It’s strictly his Father’s Day indulgence so I’m all excited, as I’ll be joining him for one of those 🙂
All ready for the Man of Steel!
  5. Taking Amelia to see “Man of Steel.” Oh man, EVERY time she sees this preview, she FLIPS out!  I’m not sure why this movie has attracted her so much, but I think it’s cool. Chris is so excited to take her to a movie she’s been dying to see – and we’re dying to see it too! You know I love a film with a great cast and a classic scifi hero. We get to see it before anyone else and so do you! You can buy “Man of Steel” tickets before its debut nationwide by going to Walmart and purchasing them in the Electronics Department. You also get a an exclusive digital comic book by by David S. Goyer, the author of Man of Steel, AND an exclusive opportunity to pre-order an HD digital download or Blu-Ray copy of the film, when you do.

The Man of Steel screening will be shown at specified theaters on June 13th at 7 PM. What an awesome way to kick off Father’s Day weekend (or week!). This groundbreaking offer is the first of its kind!

I love your Father’s Day traditions! We usually go ride a train for a picnic. It’s a fun family tradition!

I like that idea, we never do picnics! Should add them in 🙂

My kids want to see that too. How is it possible that Father’s Day is here already??
