Just back from my amazing church group, and open up facebook to an amazing amount of links on GF/CF life from my friend Debbie. (You rock, girlfriend!) When we started this journey on restricted dieting earlier in the year, I was terrified for a lot of reasons, but a big one was that how can I expect the girls to keep these habits their whole lives? It’s challenging for us as parents, who control the food chain for the 5-8 year old crowd that lives with us. How will they ever manage?
But after looking at some of Debbie’s links, I realize that this community is growing – in part, due to the rise of autism, in part due to the knowledge about celiac disease, in part due to the increase in doctors embracing biomedical and holistic solutions to disorders.
After seeing this book on the right, it occurred to me that there is a large group out there of people moving towards a better life – gluten free, casein free, sugar free, toxin free. It’s true, these are not the easiest foods to find or purchase, but it’s also true it’s a growing market. Why shouldn’t my girls be able to support this lifestyle on their own? (Eating for your body and brain’s needs is a “lifestyle”?) They will, they can, and sure, they might fall off the nutritional wagon from time to time, but I think they will do just fine.

Since you are starting early, they WILL be able to manage it themselves, if they need to, but remember that chelation can recover the child fully so that they don’t need to eat so strictly all the time. Now, does that mean avoiding gluten or casein may still be a good idea for them, maybe, but they will also know how they feel when they eat something that isn’t good for them. Getting them healthy will allow them to be more in tune with their own bodies.

Thanks for the encouragement! I always feel like they are “so old”… you get so much of this “EI or nothing” stuff nowadays. Well, chelation does scare me. I see the controversy on it, and I don’t know what to think.

Don’t let chelation scare you, it should empower you! It will give you the power to make the best of your children’s health! There is nothing scary about Andy Cutler’s protocol, it’s very safe. Only IV chelation is scary. Your children are responders, and this is huge, take it all the way mama!!

Thanks Jessica! We are going to work first on the food, then on supplements, then a water system. Step by step, right? Chis is open to chelation though. We’ll see. I want them to succeed!
