This week, as you know, I attended the National Autism Conference. The basis of many of the sections is a medical approach to helping children with autism recover processes like speech and sleep, which for many families like my own, is a struggle that affects the whole family.
Another big part of autism is medical. I know there is a community that says it’s not, but the more I learn, the more I understand that’s hogwash. Did you know that most children with autism suffer from chronic constipation or chronic diarrhea? (Raising my hand on that last one.) Can you imagine the pain of a child who cannot speak or communicate pain, to suffer so much bowel disorder? Really – think of the last time you were constipated or had diarrhea. That’s Zoe every freakin’ day for as long as I can remember.
Please do me a favor and watch this video for a new show that’s being pitched, “The A-Team.” After you watch it, share it. While you may not think autism is a medical disorder, many, many kids have improved by having their bodies treated medically – I’ve seen more stories than I can count and I’ve befriended many of these parents. While I still work to help Zoe’s body function better, we have a long way to go. Studies find that kids with autism have bowel issues, oxidative stress, undetected seizures, screwed up thyroids, bad bacteria in the gut, parasites, metal poisoning – the list goes on and on. Here’s the video, please help get this show on the networks by watching and sharing!
