This is one of a series of posts sponsored by CVS Caremark All Kids Can, a commitment to making life better for children of all abilities.
The holidays can easily become a time to get swept away with gifts, parties and shopping, and forget that some children who are suffering will spend their holiday season in the hospital. With childhood cancer rates on the rise, this holiday season you can do something to help.
Join CVS/pharmacy in its 10th year supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Thanks and Giving campaign, which has raised more than $30 million to support St. Jude to date. Their important research on childhood cancer and other deadly diseases can make a difference in so many children’s lives. St. Jude boasts the best survival rate for the most aggressive cancers that strike children.
From now through December 7 you can add $1 or $3 to your CVS purchase to support St. Jude. You can do that right at the register at a CVS/pharmacy or you can donate $1 online with your purchase at www.CVS.com/StJude.
Read what St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s national outreach director, Marlo Thomas, the daughter of hospital founder Danny Thomas, says about your support:
“The incredible support we receive from CVS/pharmacy and their loyal customers during the St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign is critical in our fight to end childhood cancer. St. Jude is where doctors send some of their toughest cases, because we have the world’s best survival rates. CVS/pharmacy’s commitment helps us continue that lifesaving work while staying true to my father’s founding promise that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing and food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.”
I’ve known families who’ve had medical emergencies and no time to think about where their meals are coming from, so what a relief St. Jude must be to families of critically ill children. The money raised by CVS/pharmacy during this campaign will support the CVS Caremark Rehabilitation Services Center at St. Jude. Their facility is located in Memphis, TN and not only provides physical therapy, but also audiology, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology services to serve children whose illness has impaired these skills.
Eileen Howard Boone, Senior Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility & Philanthropy at CVS Caremark is proud of the customers and colleagues who have stepped up to help these families. She says that they “have made a significant impact in the lives of children living with cancer and other deadly diseases through their generous support of the Thanks and Giving campaign.”
Last year, the Thanks and Giving campaign raised $6.4 million nationwide. Can we do better this year? Remember that families served by St. Jude are not billed for treatment, travel, housing or food! That’s a cause that a concerned mom like me can get behind. Won’t you help? Every dollar counts.
