Taking Care of You, AFTER Mother’s Day

Taking Care of Mom Mondays

For many of us, yesterday was a time to connect with the kids and leave a few extra chores out of our hands and into our kids’ hands. (As moms, we’re never ENTIRELY chore-free, though, are we? LOL!)

The problem with Mother’s Day is that it’s only once a year and then suddenly the overwhelming responsibility of all you do for your kids is back on you*. That means you need to look out for yourself again and make sure that you are taking care of you while you take care of your family. In fact, if you were like me, you were back in the kitchen last night prepping for today’s return to school, and laying out clothes and so on.

MY KIDS ARE PREPARED!

But did you prep yourself?

This weekend I did not plan for ME and suffered for it. We went swimming and I forgot sun lotion. Because everyone else spent the day in the water, the person who bore the brunt of the sun WAS ME. I did not take care to stay out of the sun, bring a t-shirt or drag over a towel poolside as I enjoyed a cool drink. I had a sleepless night due to a bad scorching and I’m still pretty sore today. I had a great weekend but in enjoying myself, and I’m very serious about preparing ahead for my family (something I’m terrible at but have trained myself to do) but now I have to learn to plan ahead for ME.

PREPARE IN ADVANCE TO MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER TOO!

Need more tips for preparing? Here is a great video from Dani Klein Modisett, mom and creator/producer/director of the shows “Afterbirth…stories you won’t read in Parents magazine,” and “Not What I Signed Up For.” She shares tips on how to prepare so your day can be easier too:
