Today I awoke feeling miserable. Got to bed earlier than usual, and slept later, so I got a full 8 hours, I think, but still had a neckache, sinus pain, sore eyes, and far too much sinus congestion.
I had no idea that would be a harbinger of bad news.
That kind of “this good thing was supposed to happen that would free us, and nobody has a clear understanding of why but it fell through” type of news.
Here I am, sitting here, working my butt off, and listening to online radio, which I rarely do. The Third Day song “Call My Name” came on, and got me thinking. The lyrics go like this:
“Call My name say it now
I want you to never doubt
The love I have for you is so alive”
That’s God saying that, by the way. And it hit me, that line about never doubting, followed by the really passionate way that Mac Powell sings the “love” lyric, is really about faith.
And I don’t mean faith in the casual sense, I mean the when the stuff-hits-the-wall-I-STILL-will-not-doubt-faith. Forget questions. Forget confusions. Forget syncing up the logical with the Divine.
None of that matters when you are asked if you trust that God is with you, that God loves you, and that no matter the disappointment or disaster, He is with you and has your best interests at heart.
So.
How much faith do I have today?
Just enough to see me through another disaster.
