Every now and then, I get an invite to review a product that makes me do hand stands – Muir Glen Organic is one of them. (To be honest, I hadn’t even remembered until my products arrived in the mail to review!)
Before getting these products, I had tried Muir Glen’s jarred Garlic Roasted Garlic Pasta Sauce and let me tell you, THAT is the best tomato sauce I’ve EVER had in a jar – no small compliment from an Italian pasta lover.
But that was nothing compared to their Organic Diced Tomatoes. I had 4 kinds to choose for my dinners:
- No Salt
- Fire Roasted with Green Chilies
- Reserve Fire Roasted Red & Yellow Diced Tomatoes
- Reserve Red & Yellow Diced Tomatoes
I absolutely loved them! And, so did the family. The best part? They are super easy to cook with. You may ask, what are “reserve” tomatoes? Very similar to reserve wines, these tomatoes are a limited run, and planted and nurtured with extra care. According their booklet, the reserver tomatoes are selected for their “exceptional sweetness” and give your dishes “unique but complementary textures, colors and flavor profiles.”
In other, they are just plain extra delicious!
They sent me a booklet of lovely recipes I hope to try when I’m a better cook, but for now, I will share my recipe of Mexican inspired beef fry, which can be served on gluten-free pizza bread, over rice or over pasta. And it took NO TIME at all to whip up with the already diced tomatoes thrown in. Enjoy!
RECIPE: Mexican Inspired Spicy Beef
INGREDIENTS:
- 1-2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 yellow onion, chopped into small pieces
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped into small pieces
- 1/2 organic yellow squash (for sneaky vegetables), chopped into small pieces
- 2 jalapenos (optional if you like things super hot), chopped into small pieces
- 1lb. grass fed organic ground beef
- 1 Can Muir Glen Organic Fire Roasted with Green Chilies
- sea salt to taste
Heat the oil in pan over medium flame and saute the onion, garlic, squash and jalapenos until soft. Add chopped meat and saute until brown. Add the can of Muir Glen Organic Fire Roasted with Green Chilies, then add 1 can of water to sauce. Add sea salt to taste. Simmer until meat is cooked and vegetables are cooked down into a nice sauce.
Serve over rice, gluten-free bread, or gluten-free pasta.
That’s it! Enjoy. And do try Muir Glen, you will be glad you did!

Oh they are sooooo good. Really do try their pasta sauce, worth the splurge every now and then – still way less cost than eating out, but it’s like that quality of good.
