Mamavation Mondays: One More Try?

Mamavation Mondays

We still have 2 more weeks of summer, and 4 more weeks to a wedding, and so I’m going to give myself ONE MORE TRY to start working before the kids go back to school. I have no doubt I can do this, once they are in school, but now is so challenging! Every moment they’ve had of child care or respite care or camp HAD to go to my writing or other work, and now that it’s nearly over, I have to suck it up that I must exercise around them (or with them?).

Sadly, I’ve put on weight the last few weeks. I’ve not eaten unreal food, but I’ve eaten quality junk – steaks, cupcakes – that kind of thing. Oh, wait, there was a little junk, but I’ve been heavy hitting the sweets. Now I feel l need a detox and am still ruminating over which one to do in 2 weeks or when school starts, but in the meantime, I’ve stopped all alcohol, since I don’t like any that isn’t sugary.

In fact, I wasn’t even GOING to write a Mamavation post – the reason I have is because I just got my issue of Prevention magazine  and on the cover it said:

“Trim & Toned in 15 Miinutes a Day”

Now, I’m not foolish enough to really buy that, so I checked out the article, which is called, “Flat Belly Yoga: Firm-Abs Plan for 40.” Well, they had me at flat belly, but adding not only “yoga” but “for 40” encouraged me. It says I need 3lb dumbbells, but I just guess 5lbs will have to do  – which is good, I need awesome arms by 9/14.  And they are not easy exercises, I’ve tried some before and they are powerhouses.

Add that to some burpees, and I MAY have something going by the time school starts. SO right now, I’m making an appointment to start these tomorrow directly after breakfast. Wish me luck…

Burpees are my enemy along with mountain climbers. I am going to suggest one workout for the belly that does make a difference over time and that is Boat Pose in Yoga.

Just remember all exercises can be modified there is no reason to do it full blast

Yup, boat pose is one in the guide, but it’s called “Boat with a Burn.” Thanks, great tip -better to do than to keel over 🙂

Workouts are hard for me as well – I feel like I’m constantly stopping to tend to a baby or other child! But the 15 minutes somebody mentioned above I can usually do. Good luck!

Good luck to you too, Shay! It’s way more challenging when they are little.
