Yea, so the holiday came and everything I’d worked for went to hell.
I think I need better motivation! I reached out to my accountability partner to see if we could set that up. Before I talked about giving myself a star sticker every time I worked out. So here’s how my July is going:
🙁 Anyway, I’ve decided to motivate myself by getting a whole pack of stars. Red and blue will be for working out, green and yellow are for when I work on my novel(s). And yea, I plan on 6 days a week of both. Wish me luck! Last week at the Mamavation meeting they discussed the glycemic index diet. I’m not a dieter or an index believer, but I’m going to look into it as I know all of us in this house need to reduce our sugar intake – most especially me. I already have a cookbook for lower sugar. About the only thing I don’t need sweet is my coffee and I’m guessing that’s a problem!
Meanwhile, I need help with my office. Hadn’t cleaned it ages and Zoe tracked mud in here, so yesterday Chris and I cleaned the upstairs, and I organized & decluttered and tried to make things pretty.
The sad part was that after I was done, it was still blah and unmotivating.

Can you feel the blahness? Talk about anti-creative atmosphere. And the other side of the room is completely white, nothing to see at all. The most invigorating thing in there is the wall art by my daughter (left of bookcase).
So the next financial priority is this, or maybe my blog then this. Ugh! At least I have a color scheme picked:

Brown for accent wall, off white for the others, pale green for my desk. Good luck with finding one, because I’m NOT crafty at all.
Still, my gratitude jar for the year is way full, so that’s good news!
That’s it for me, and somehow we didn’t hear the bus pull up today so the kid’s are home, which is not a good way to start the week! But it can only go up from here, right?

I am grateful that we had a great holiday weekend at the lake and at a family members pool party but that we also managed to get our goal list done. I exercised every day and painted the power room. Whew whew. Glad that is done! Best of luck with your goals. Something that always helps me is to look past all the tasks it takes to get the goal done and look at the end result. That keeps me motivated. 🙂

Wow, look at you! Painting AND exercising, WAY to go. What is your secret?? 🙂

Love the star idea! And the colors you picked out! I’m just having a hard time motivation wise with the whole summer… not just the 4th of July vacay. Summer’s tough with the kids home! Love that you are setting up a system to help motivate.

Thanks – well, kids get stars, so why not adults? 🙂 I need all the motivation I can get, lol.

You picked a great color scheme! How relaxing!

Actually, I thought it might be too mellow and forgot about it for a bit, but when I found the colors yesterday, my mind said, “YES!”

I would have gone for more color in my office, though I can appreciate wanting to have relaxing colors in your office, too.
I love the star idea. Even though I track a lot of my exercise via MapMyRun, having a piece of paper in front of my face to show me what I’ve done for the week is really helpful.
Also, I LOVE the gratitude jar! What an awesome idea! If you ever want to do a guest post about it for my blog, let me know. It’s such a great idea for Motivation Monday!

Honestly, I would have done the whole thing brown or purple, but I don’t trust it wont turn out like poop or a bordello (or a poopy bordello!) 🙂 Yes, I need paper to keep track of stuff too!
Wow, thanks, Barb, might take you up on that – it’s such a fun idea and so helpful in maintaining gratitude that I’d love to write about it!

I really enjoyed reading this and hearing about your exciting plans.

Thanks, Janenane!

That color palate is gorgeous and you’re going to LOVE the look when it’s all done. Choosing colors is half the battle. The holiday weekend left me totally exhausted. This week isn’t looking much better. Is there another holiday I can have with NOTHING on my to-do list, like in 3 weeks? I’ll need it, ha!
Gina B says
Oh I’m good on waiting for holidays for another 6 or 7 weeks (esp since that one is followed by school!)

I was so confused this morning as to what day it was – eating well, sleeping enough, and working out at all were lacking in my past week! I think I need to buy a pack of stars!
Gina B says
Yup, that mid-summer holiday really trips everyone up! Tuesday, right??
