#Mamavation Mondays: Little Known Benefits of Working Out

Filed Under: what to eat Tagged With: mamamavation monday

Mamavation MondaysLast week, I tried out for the lastest Mamavation Campaign, which, this time around, not only helps moms get fit, but also helps family go nontoxic.

I shared the pool with a truly deserving bunch of applicants, and while I did not get it, I applaud them and wish the finalists good luck.  I *also* had a great week of learning from our hazing – that is, daily exercise chores – which got me off my lazy horse and got me back in shape.  Here’s what I learned about working out:

  1. It’s good for pain. Not all pain, naturally, bu cricks in the neck, stiffness, soreness, anything caused by decreased inactivity and a slight nudge in the wrong direction. Burpees completely healed the back / shoulder / neck pain I’d been dealing with for months.
  2. It’s good for the libido. I always forget this! Even when I was wiped out and it took some serious time to catch my breath, I felt so strong and sexy afterwards that I’d hunt down the hubby  😉
  3. You just need motivation to do it. No on EVER wants to work out, but if you have a goal that is really desirable you’ll carve out time for it.  The trick that hangs me up is that goal of what I want my body to look like. It’s as if I don’t believe it can happen to me – not even stronger arm muscles, which is an easy goal for me.  I have to work out the kink in that one!
  4. Pain can be good. Ok, there’s pain and there’s burn, and you need to know the difference. I did squats last week and didn’t feel a darn thing when done, so I knew I did them wrong. Then I found a video with easy instructions and I had serious burn for 3 days! Doing it right is a BIG deal.

Those are my lessons. I’m not sure if they’ll open up applications again for a nontoxic event or to those with smaller bodies and “in range” BMIs, but I’m not going to wait. My goal is to work out 5-6 days a week – even if it’s a short “hazing” event – and then learn, on my own, to detox my house.

What’s your goal this week?

Good job! I’m trying to get back into working out too. It’s so easy to get lazy. 🙁

I went through hazing for the last campaign, and I completely agree….there was nothing more satisfying physically (besides, you know…) than waking up with most of the muscles in your body SORE. (See: burpees)

Don’t be afraid to try again next time…you kick butt!

Great list of benefits Gina! thank you for sharing. I’m so baffled that a burpee helped you out. lol – Guess there is a bright side to everything, even burpees.

LOL! Yes, I’m baffled too. I think I was super stiff, and the burpees stretched the pain out of me. That’s all I can come up with anyway.

Welcome!
