Looking for a treat that you can feel safe giving your kids? Crispy Natural makes fruit and vegetable crisps that might be just the ticket for your family. They sent me a sampler that included 4 flavors:
- Crunchy Tomato Chips With Basil and Oregano
- Crunchy Carrot Chips With Paprika
- Crunchy Carrot Chips With Cinnamon
- Crunchy Apple Crisps With Cinnamon
How did we like them? Zoe turned up her nose at them, but that’s not unusual. Amelia like the Apple Crisps, and believe it or not, so did my husband! They were a little heavy on the cinnamon for me, so I preferred the Carrot Chips with Paprika. We really didn’t like the Tomato Chips – too strong – and the Carrot Chips with Cinnamon were not bad either. They are more like eating a dried fruit than eating a vegetable: the taste is strong and close to the source taste.
The crisps are gluten-free, non-GMO, are not fried or freeze-dried, do not have added sugar or salt, and have 0 grams of fat. The Tomato Crisps are merely tomatoes and spices, but others, like the Carrot Chips with Cinnamon, have ascorbic and citric acids to preserve freshness. Like everything else, read labels before you buy to see if it fits in with your family’s needs. I was not happy to see citric acid in both of the carrot items.
Each bag contains 1 to 3 of the fruit of vegetable so you are getting a healthy serving of produce in a way that’s fun and fairly clean to eat. Crunch your vitamins!
All in all, these were not bad. Interesting and different, but not everyone’s cup of tea. If you’d like to learn more, go check out Crispy Natural’s Facebook page.
