We took “off” from activities on Father’s Day but we did have a GREAT character breakfast at the Ohana. Chris is sure we sat next to the actor who played Peter Brady, which is funny because all I could think of at the Polynesian was the Brady Bunch Hawaiian Vacation episode. Big pans of food came and the kids ate it all! Amelia has a new buddy, too:
After leaving the Polynesian, we went back to our old time share, which we’ve just sold. We haven’t been back in a few years. The last time here, we lost Zoe. After a full week of Disney, she woke up at 5am in the pitch black morning, figured out the locks, and wandered out of the room. We were sick. If you’ve never lost a child…I can’t explain it, but it’s a horrible thing. The worst part was that security had her, and DIDN’T tell us! They immediately called the police and child services, but they didn’t bother to knock on the doors to find her parents. (Some of the staff had fantasies about taking her home, she was so cute, GRRRRR.) Anyway, everything was eventually resolved.
Before booking this year, Chris wrote an opinion of the resort, and we were contacted, apologized to, and told things had changed a lot. We were given a few amenities to make up for it, and we have taken precautions…not just locks, but we’ve put a heavy table in front of the door. Zoe only wants to bunk with us when she awakes, so it’s been good so far…and believe me, she can’t move that table.
We had Father’s Day dinner at Planet Hollywood, which was definitely “meh” for the price. Chris didn’t feel good, so it was early to bed, to prep for Day 3 – Hollywood Studios!

I’ve never lost a child, but my son did figure out how to unlock the front door and he walked out of the house. He was around 1 1/2 at the time, and he hadn’t traveled very far when I realized he was gone. It is truly frightening when things like that happen, but I’m glad everything worked out and your daughter was ok.

Thanks Crystal! It’s scary, esp when the kids are little and just don’t understand.
