As you no doubt noticed from my last post on accomplishing my dreams, my plate is full right now! And like you, doing for the family is taking most of my time – and draining me. My top option is to take care of how I eat, but healthy snacks for busy moms? That can be impossible.
Healthy Snacks for Busy Moms
This conversation is sponsored by Foodie Fuel Snacks and Mambo Sprouts, who also sent me products to review. All opinions are my own.
Take this week, for example: I’m reconnecting with my neighbors and joining a new bible study, have a back to school night for my youngest, worked on several work including a Facebook Live interview schedule for Thursday morning with Natural4Naturals, need to prep for two upcoming conferences and a trip to my local nonprofit.
I’m also working to get back to the gym this week AND prepping for detox starting next week. Whew!
This is not a new development. This summer has been jam packed! I actually missed a kid event on Friday because I was so slammed with work on Friday. Chris and I took the kids and stumbled into a restaurant that night, we were so hungry.
How To Keep Productive When You’re Too Busy
But with all this go! go! go! I’m out of steam – and quick. Fortunately, I have a few quick tips on what to do power through those busy days – especially important this time of year!
1. Plan, Plan, Plan
Ok, I am NOT a planner. I’m a pantser when I write, and I’m Queen of the Spontaneous Activities, even if it’s a kid birthday. So when I say “Plan Ahead,” what I mean is do the absolute minimum at the last possible advanced minute to get things done. So just before bed, I put out the things I need for the morning rush. And if I can do that, you definitely can!
2. Put Yourself First
Yea, you heard me. Get it together, mama, for yourself! You can serve the kids better if you take 5 minutes to do the few things that clear your mind: skin care routine, a Bible verse, rolling on some essential oils, starting the coffee, taking your vitamins, deep breathing, etc. Give yourself a little boost to get going before you burn out!
3. Focus on the Positive
DON’T turn on that morning show or news station if it’s likely to bring you down, and don’t jump on Facebook if you follow threads that tend to be angry or sad. (Autism community, I’m talking to you!) I keep harping on this lately because it’s the message God keeps giving me.
4. Recover in Case of “Stuff” Happens
IF something small happens, like forgotten homework, a small first aid emergency, or some other non-life-altering mishap, don’t give into the voice that says, “This day is ruined!” It’s not, just get through this event, and look forward to all the other good things that can happen in this day!
5. Fuel Yourself
There’s a huge debate about snacking: do it, don’t do it, do it only once a day, etc. I fall firmly on the side of Do It! The key is not to remove all snacks but to find ones that are healthy, pack a punch and you enjoy. (Let’s face it, carrot sticks get old really fast!) Foodie Fuel is one of those awesome snacks.
Healthy Snacks for Busy Moms
If you’re going to snack, though, you should do it right. That’s why I was excited to work with Foodie Fuel to share their delicious and healthy Foodie Fuel Snacks, the perfect healthy snacks for busy moms. They meet all my requirements for a great snack:
- USDA Certified Organic
- Certified Non-GMO
- Paleo Friendly
- Certified Gluten Free
- And most important? They taste delicious!
They are also certified vegan! These delicious bites are full of nutritious and energy-sustaining ingredients like sunflower, pumpkin, flax and chia seeds, super-food powders and are sweetened with low-glycemic coconut sugar. You might want to hide them from the kids because my daughter inhaled the Butter Toffee!
Oh, right, did I mention they come in four delicious flavors:
- Butter Toffee
- Swiss Chocolate
- Coconut Vanilla (my favorite!)
- Cinnamon Ginger
These are a tasty snack to pair up with your favorite items like fruit and cheese (I love cheese with my sweets), and are perfect for tucking into your bag when you’re on the run, like when we had to hurry to get my kids to their new MAPS doctor last month.
Yea, guess which one of us in the family forgot to eat? Empty stomach + long car trip = low blood sugar mommy. And you DON’T want to mess with her!
Luckily, I grabbed my Foodie Fuel Snacks out the door and the whole family indulged! That helped me last through the entire appointment, until we made it back home some 3 hours later.
You can even eat them with milk (nut or other!) and under nut butter, but I love these little snacks just the way they are. My preferred time to eat? With a cup of coffee when I’m working on my novel 🙂
